HOME Portraits of the Hakka by OSAMU NAKAMURA *signed

In the mountainous region of Fujian Province, China, there is a people known as the Hakka. These people, who once fled warfare from the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River, have a history of over 1,700 years, and their collective housing, shaped like a stadium, is unparalleled. The photographer Osamu Nakamura, who studied under the master photographer Eiichiro Sakata, began his photography even before the site was registered as a World Heritage site.
In this collection of photographs titled "HOME," his camera captures the portraits of the old people who live here and the traditional Chinese landscape, which is dying out, with orange light. The wrinkles on the old people's faces, traces of the lives they have surely led there. And something that must be handed down with their prayers. In their eyes, there is a true "HOME" for the viewer. Winner of the 20th Sagamihara Photography Newcomer's Incentive Award. Signed.
